Hebrew Numbers - Water In The Desert

The Meaning of Hebrew Numbers

In the Scripture the meaning of numbers are seen and connected to actual events reconfirming it’s meaning. Why then should we look at numbers when reading the Scripture? As we have seen in the “pardes” example of Scripture searching methods, we use numbers to connect certain scriptures together, linking them or to give a deeper meaning or light up a way of thinking about that specific verse in the context of the teaching behind the number mentioned within it. To understand this concept more clearly, read through these examples and you will see it for yourself.

TWO The number 2, 20, 200, 2000; (in Hebrew, 2, 20, 200 have the same teaching, 1, 10, 100 also have a teaching, ext.), it is in connection to the two tablets of the Law YHWH gave to Moses to instruct the people how to have a relationship with Him and then how to have a relationship with their fellow men. Jacob returned after 20 years to face his brother again in order to restore their relationship. So every time you see the number 2, 20, 200… you will know it relates to these two types of relationships.

THREE The number 3, 30, 300, 3000 always relates to covenants. Y’shua was 3 days in the grave; He said the temple will be broken down and rebuild in 3 days – referring to His resurrection and also to your body as the temple through baptism. He was 33 years old when He died, two three’s showing the first and second covenant, and the 2 (threes) also show Him restoring the relationship between YHWH and man. There was 3000 saved at Pentecost (50 days after Passover, meaning grace) that came into the new covenant exc.

FOUR The number 4 always gives us an indication that points to the work of the Messiah and salvation. It rained 40 days and 40 nights when Noah was saved, Moses was 40 years old when he was called to save Israel (prophetic picture showing the work to be done by the Messiah), Moses was 40 days on the mountain and he brought down two tablets written on both sides each, a total of 4 sides, he broke it because of the sin of the people (Messiah came down from heaven and was broken for us because of sin), then he went back and came down again with the tablets (second coming of Yahushua) and was instructed to build a tabernacle (new Jerusalem will come where YHWH will live among His people). Isaac was 40 when he married Rebecca (prophetic picture of the Bridegroom coming to marry His bride-us), there are 4 cups to drink at Passover, the festival of salvation exc. This shows that the number 4, 40, 400 points to the Messiah.

FIVE The number 5, 50, 500, 5000 always shows to grace; Benjamin's portion was 5 times as much as any of theirs. Joseph let his family live in the land of Goshen when there were still 5 years of famine left in Egypt, it was 5 loafs and two fishes that feed the multitude, Yahushua taught a parable of grace when two people owed a creditor 500 denarii and the other 50, and he freely forgave both when they had no money to pay, Pentecost is 50 days after Passover where His gracious Gift of the Spirit was received,

SIX The number 6, 60, 600, 6000 is the number of man or God’s people, man was created on the 6’th day, to work only six days, we lived 6000 years and subdued the earth with 6 Billion people alive today, Noah was 600 years old when the judgment came on man and we expect the second judgment in the 6000’th year timing also, Jacob returned with a total of 66 souls to live in Egypt and when they left Egypt they were about 600 000 men, exc.

SEVEN The number 7, 70, 700, 7000 always have something to do with nations. Jacob served 7 years for Leah and 7 years for Rachael bringing forth the nation of YHWH, later in the generations to be split up into two parts, Judah (Benjamin & Levi) and Ephraim (the rest of the tribes) later scattered into the nations. There were 7 years of famine in the land that caused Israel to become a nation in the land of Goshen.

EIGHT The number 8, 80, 800, 8000 has to do with new beginnings because the week have seven days and the 8’th day is the beginning of a new week. The first-born son was circumcised on the 8th day. With Noah’s flood 8 people were saved and started a new beginning for man.

NINE The numbers 9,90,900 is the hint that it has to do with promises; Abraham was 99 years old when he was sealed, circumcised, to seal the promise of the generations to come through him.

ONE - TEN The number 1,10,100,1000 always refers to completion or fullness. There were 10 commandments given to Moses at Sinai, There were 10 things created on the first day and 10 things created at the end of the sixth day of creation. There were 10 generations from Adam to Noah, suggesting that the godlessness of those generations was made complete. There were 10 generations from Noah to Abraham, suggesting that the godliness of those generations was made complete. There were ten plagues issued during the Exodus of Egypt.
